Lincoln Electric Plant Tour
Next Generation Manufacturing and the Changing Workforce
Description
Join the Manufacturing Leadership Council at the Lincoln Electric facilities in Cleveland, Ohio, for an opportunity to tour and learn about Next Generation Manufacturing and the Changing Workforce.
Overview
Lincoln Electric is the global leader in the engineering, design and manufacturing of advanced arc welding solutions, automated joining, assembly and cutting systems, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting equipment, and has a leading global position in brazing and soldering alloys. They are renowned as The Welding Experts® for their leading material science, software development, automation engineering and application expertise, which advance customers’ fabrication capabilities to help them build a better world.
Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, their HQ campus represents the industry’s largest manufacturing facility worldwide, where they manufacture a broad range of welding and cutting equipment, welding consumables, and design and engineer automated solutions for customers. In addition, Lincoln operates the longest running welding school globally, which expanded in 2018 into a new, state-of-the-art Welding Technology and Training Center (WTTC).
Visitors will experience the WTTC and learn how Lincoln advances workforce development and the upskilling of welders using industry-leading curriculums and a broad range of solutions, including virtual reality. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see how Lincoln manufactures various types of welding and cutting equipment, including their in-house pc board manufacturing facility. We will tour one of Lincoln’s 20 global automation facilities to highlight how Lincoln Electric develops automation solutions for customers to address workforce and productivity challenges. Finally, we will tour Lincoln’s new metal wire 3D printing business, the largest of its kind in the world, where Lincoln Electric leverages customer’s CAD files and 3D prints large-scale parts, tooling and molds for industrial and aerospace customers. This new process technology delivers finished parts in days-to-weeks, instead of months using traditional casting, forging or milling processes to help shorten customers’ supply chain and provide rapid replacement parts to maximize customers’ operational up time.
Walk Away with Actionable Insights
Attend this plant tour, which will be followed by a panel discussion on supply chain excellence through lean and digital transformation and walk away with actionable insights, including:

Special Accommodations and Considerations
Plant tours involve walking moderate distances in a factory setting, estimated to be up to 1 mile, and brings visitors within the proximity of industrial machinery.
Additionally, electric current flowing through any conductor causes localized Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF). Welding current creates EMF fields around welding cables and welding machines that are manufactured, tested, and applied throughout all Lincoln Electric manufacturing plants. EMF fields may interfere with some pacemakers. Visitors having a pacemaker should consult their physician for approval prior to taking a tour.
Visitors with leg casts, crutches or canes, will not be permitted in manufacturing plants (machine & consumable facilities) unless arrangements have been made in advance to provide a wheelchair.
Photography
Photography, including cell phone and camera use is prohibited in all manufacturing, assembly, and laboratory areas. Camera and cell phone use is permitted in the Welding Technology & Training Center.
