Patrick Spicer
Dr. J. Patrick Spicer is Chief Technologist of Reconfigurable Assembly in the Materials and Manufacturing Systems Research Lab at General Motors Research and Development. Patrick has been at GM Research and Development for 18 years.
While at GM R&D, Patrick has made contributions in the areas of technical cost modeling, advanced process monitoring for batteries using machine learning, additive manufacturing, and flexible/reconfigurable automation for vehicle structural assembly. In addition to leading and participating in manufacturing research projects, he also serves as manager of the project portfolio and technology roadmaps for the Materials and Manufacturing System Research Lab.
Patrick is an inventor with over 30 granted patents. He has a doctorate in manufacturing engineering, a masters in mechanical engineering and a bachelors in industrial and operations engineering from The University of Michigan.
